A.Q. Khan, Nuclear Proliferation and the US Response

Aki Peritz, a former Fellow with the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, examines A.Q. Khan’s role in spreading Pakistan’s nuclear weapons technology to some of the most unstable countries in the world and the US response to that proliferation network.

I had a lot of fun with this project. Aki gave me a good idea what he wanted to see from the piece and then let me loose to create it.

The cover is a partial image of A.Q. Khan. I designed the cover to highlight both the visible and clandestine nature of Khan’s proliferation activities.

The opening spread with an image of A.Q. Khan appearing on state television—confessing and apologizing for leaking nuclear secrets to other countries.

I incorporated a map of the Pakistan region before the first chapter of the report.

The original text included a brief description on the weaponizing of uranium. I designed this graphic to help illustrate the text.
